2. Prepare Your Application

To apply to the Citizenship Application or Application for Naturalization you need to fill in Form N-400.

Check the necessary documents for your application:

  • 2 passport-style photographs
  • Photocopy of your permanent resident green card (from and back)
  • Photocopy of your Legal Marital Status Certificate. Show a photocopy of your current marriage certificate, divorce, annulment decree, or death certificate of a former spouse. (If applicable)
  • Documents for Military Personnel or Spouses of Military Personnel (if applicable)
  • You can file your application online or on paper.

3. Biometrics Appointment

When the USCIS accepts your application, you will need to get your biometrics appointment. USCIS will send a letter with date, time and where will need to be.

The biometrics appointment consists in get your fingerprints, photograph, and signature taken. The USCIS needs this information to check criminal background. Your Biometrics appointment will be at a local support center.

4. The Citizenship Interview

The motive of the interview is for the USCIS officer to analyze whether you qualify to become a naturalized U.S. Citizen.

5. The Citizenship Test
