How Much Does It Cost to Become a U.S. Citizen?
The cost for applying for U.S. citizenship, also known as naturalization, is currently $725. This fee includes $640 for the processing of the application and $85 for biometrics services. Both of these charges are non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the application. However, there may be instances where certain applicants are eligible for a reduction or waiver of these fees.

For applicants residing in the United States:
There are different options available for paying the naturalization application fee (Form N-400). If you submit the application online through myUSCIS, you may also pay the fee online.
If you submit a paper Form N-400 through the mail, you may pay the fee using one of the following options: Money order, personal check, cashier’s check, or credit card (using Form G-1450, also known as the “Authorization for Credit Card Transactions”).
It is important to note that only one method of payment can be used. For example, you cannot pay the application filing fee using a money order and pay the biometrics fee using a personal check.
If you are submitting more than one citizenship application (for multiple family members, for example), you must use the same method of payment for all of them.
All payments must be in exact amounts. If the payment amount is incorrect, USCIS will reject the application and return your payment, which you will need to resubmit with the correct amount.
If paying by money order, personal check, or cashier’s check, the payee must be spelled out as “U.S. Department of Homeland Security”, without abbreviations such as “USDHS” or “DHS”.
If paying by credit card, make sure to complete all three sections of Form G-1450, sign the form, and place it on top of Form N-400.
